Meet Jasmine!

Jasmine Gelfer (she/her) is a 22 year old singer, dancer, and actor currently based in Boston, MA. She is currently finishing up her final semester at Emerson College as a BFA Musical Theatre major with a minor in Marketing Communications.

Jasmine was born and raised about an hour north of NYC in Putnam County, NY (yes, exactly like the spelling bee!) As the daughter of two working artistic professionals, she has always been encouraged to pursue her goal of working in the performing arts. She started taking dance and gymnastics classes at about 4 years old, but everything changed when she was about 7 years old and saw her first ever musical, “The Sound of Music”, and fell in love with everything musical theatre related.

So… what happened in those last 15 years? Jasmine continued dance and gymnastics and started performing in musicals in school and at theatre camp every summer, which she even ended up working at for a few years! She took voice lessons, piano lessons, music theory, and all different kinds of dance. She even performed in a few local professional productions in high school. She began music directing her high school a capella group. And then finally, she auditioned for colleges just in time for a global pandemic to hit and wipe out the entire industry that was her life goal to pursue… uh oh. But, it all worked out in the end. Between performing in zoom musicals and taking virtual ballet class in her freshman dorm room, beginning her professional career in the most uncertain of times proved to Jasmine that this was the correct field for her.
